  update10 August 2002

Did anyone read the news article "21st Century Technology Wars: Apple Vs. Microsoft" by Tim McDonald, www.NewsFactor.com? The title looks like it could be an interesting read, but by the second paragraph, i gave up on the article. He wrote about how Apple dissed a lot of MacUsers by abandoning the floppy. If this article was printed when iMac was first launched, it's contents are of course acceptable. But i really don't understand why he still harp's on such an old topic.

Both Apple and M$ should be worried out the trend of governments adopting open source software. If OSS wins the war, M$ will definitely be the one that hurts most. Apple is after all still a niche/specialized computer.

update4 February 2001: 4 Februari 2001

Steve Jobs recently announced SuperDrives in all Macs, both pro- and consumer models by the year 2002. Imagine a SuperDrive in an iMac! Probably an iMac with a CDRW will be out this year either at MacWorld Tokyo or later in March.

However is moving from DVD to CDRW really what Macusers want? There is no denying that buying a storage device is not an option but a necessity for Macusers, and the introduction of CDRW as a storage option is a welcomed improvement.

But what about those who wants to use the DVD? Why does Apple leave them out in the cold? This is difficult to comprehend especially when DVD-CDRW combo units exists, and is already included in Toshiba notebooks.

Currently Apple seems to be migrating along the path: from DVD to CDRW and finally to SuperDrive. However i think it makes more sense to go from DVD to DVD-CDRW, before going to SuperDrive.

Just my 2 sen. Also posted an short review on X-launch, definitely a more elegant launcher than from Apple. Check it out.

Reviu ringkas X-launch disediakan. Anda boleh membacanya di sini.

Added a MOMUG FTP software archive (members only) but it is still not ready. I will upload more files, and will inform all members the password when it is ready. It is mostly large freeware and shareware which i split into small files. I hope downloading will be simpler this way.

update21 November 2000

Uploading of the Malaysia Online Macintosh User Group (MOMUG), preview version. Why another MUG? To the best of my knowledge, there is only one active MUG in Malaysia, and that is in the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. I hope this site will bring other Macusers in Malaysia closer. Among several ideas that pop up, a forum for Mac-related discussion, a collection of resources helpful to Macusers in Malaysia, MacOS-related tutorials and articles. I welcome any suggestion or comments about MOMUG. Membership is free, and the details are available here.

Versi previu MOMUG dilancarkan.
